NEWBURGH PRIORY- Bank Holiday Monday 31 August 2020 – goes ahead

I love this place!

We are delighted to confirm that Newburgh Priory August plant fair will go ahead.

A wonderful estate to visit at any time of the year but late summer offers you beautiful views, a peaceful lake alive with lots of wild fowl, woodland and water gardens and a short sharp hike up to the top of the hill to look back down onto the Priory and Sutton Bank beyond.  With over 40 acres of gardens and grounds to explore, you know it will be a great day out for all, including your dog.

The fair takes place on the North lawns looking down to the lake and the White Horse at Kilburn beyond and is always popular with the individual plant nurseries and specialists who attend.

As always there will be some of the very best specialist nurseries attending the fair and there will be greater spaces between the stands to ensure your own safety and wellbeing.  Nurseries attending are Roanne Nurseries, Through the Garden Gate, Giddy Kippers, Fayrefield Horticulture & Design, Primrose Bank Nursery, Gatekeeper Nurseries, Plantazia, Dark Star Plants, Northern Ark Nursery, Waltham Herbs, Driftwood Bonsai, Ox-Eye Daisy, Three Pools Nursery and Foster’s Exotics & Unusual Plants.

Garden accessories include Alfresco Design, Gardening with Wildlife, Karon Import’s Wire Sculptures and the Woodland Trust.

We are trying so hard to stop the use of plastic and most of the nurseries now have bio-degradable bags to offer you but please bring your own bags along too – it all helps.  And although the nurseries are now embracing modern technology with card payments, not all of them do, so don’t forget to bring CASH with you to avoid disappointment.

I can confirm that toilet facilities will be available and catering will be held in the ruins (The Long Gallery) by Newburgh House catering.   Every precaution will be implemented to ensure your safety but please wear masks or face shields if you feel you may be vulnerable.

The House will not be open.
