We hold our second plant fair of the season at Sandon Hall! Goodness, what a traumatic time it has been for us all but I’m thrilled that Sandon Hall would like to hold a fair for us.
There will be changes though. The fair will be held at the front of the Hall on the gravelled area. Admission will be £2.00 pp. No dogs please.
OPENING TIME 9am to 2pm.
The gardens were furloughed at Sandon, along with most of the staff, and their head gardener didn’t think the gardens should be open for the plant fair. However, we have persuaded him to allow us to visit “the sleeping garden” on a donation basis on the day of the plant fair. I had a sneaky preview and its utterly charming – slightly overgrown lawns awash with wonderful wild flowers, flower beds not looking pristine but charming and the gardens as you will never see like that again, so please consider a wander through and donate some money. Why? Well Sandon Hall would like to buy a specialist tree to plant to commemorate the NHS and those who lost their lives to Covid 19 (one of them being my own husband). What a great idea.
Social distancing will be in place, and we would appreciate it if you paid the entry via card (£2.00 per person, children free). There will be mobile toilet facilities and I believe some catering will be available (to be confirmed).
DON’T FORGET TO BRING CASH, most nurseries do not have card facilities. And for those of you who wish to stop the use of plastic bags, may I politely ask you to bring your own bags and help save the planet. At our recent fair, many of the nurseries asked you to pick up your own plants and place them in bags, then take them to be paid for. Extreme care will be taken at all times. Please wear masks or face shields if you feel at all uneasy. Sanitisers will be available at the entrance to the plant fair.
