Hardwick Park is managed by the Countryside Service within Durham County Council and has enjoyed a rebirth and restoration over the past few years. Originally created by John Burton in the 1750’s, many of the original buildings remain and have been sympathically restored. The park offers delightful walks with lakes, ruins, hidden areas and ornamental buildings make this a superb venue for my first Durham plant fair and I look forward to meeting new keen gardeners to this event. The Park is just 2 miles from A1(M), J 60 and close to Sedgefield. We shall be holding the plant fair beside the Visitor Centre and admission will be £2.00. Children free.

This private garden of just over five acres has been created by Jim and Linda Bennett, owners of B J Nurseries. Jim attends most of the Yorkshire events and I couldn’t resist visiting their spectacular garden last year to see whether we could hold an event there. It’s a truly amazing garden with long sweeping borders, wild hops, plums, hazel and honeysuckle hedgerows, and over 400 different varieties of herbaceous perennials you can understand why I fell in love with it. **The SAT NAV post code takes you to a dead end “Closed” bridge across the river so please ignore and approach from nearby Askern, Doncaster and follow the signs. Sykehouse is on the border between East and South Yorkshire and is the longest village in Yorkshire. Admission £3 includes gardens, fair and Jim’s nursery.
